The brief

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts and their Awards mask are famous the world over. Rivalling the Oscars™ in the US, they have expanded over the past 60 years to reflect the enormous growth within film and television, as well as new areas, such as gaming. They asked us to develop their identity to accommodate their future plans.

The solution

We defined a new brand architecture, allowing BAFTA to move into new areas without compromising their identity. Their bronze mask was originally created in 1955. But the disparity in its reproduction was increasingly problematic. In our streamlined marque, its glamour is restored both consistently and cost-effectively.

The result

Since launching the new branding in 2007, the UK television audience figures for their Film Awards, have risen by 48% to 5.42 million in 2013. The awards are now broadcast in over 200 countries worldwide.
